General Program Information
What is NHSaves?
It is a collaboration between New Hampshire’s electric and natural gas utilities (Eversource, Liberty, New Hampshire Electric Co-op, and Unitil) to provide customers with information, incentives, and support to save energy and reduce costs.
What is the “Home Energy Performance” approach?
This is a comprehensive, whole-house approach designed to optimize energy efficiency and comfort rather than just focusing on a single problem area.
What are the primary benefits of participating?
Participants can save 20% or more on annual heating and cooling costs, enjoy fewer drafts, and have the peace of mind that work is performed by specially-trained contractors.
The Energy Audit Process
What happens during a Home Energy Audit?
An approved Energy Contractor will interview you about your concerns and inspect your building shell, mechanical systems, and refrigeration.
They will also inspect attics or basements and use diagnostic tools like infrared cameras to find air leaks.
How much does the audit cost?
While the service is a $500 value, it is offered to qualified enrollees for just $100.
Is the audit fee refundable?
If you decide to move forward with any of the recommended improvements, the $100 fee will be deducted from the total cost of the project.

What information do I need to have ready when I apply?
You should have your home’s square footage and one year of heating fuel usage history on hand.
Incentives and Improvements
What kind of financial help is available?
Based on your assessment, you may be eligible for up to $6,000 in incentives to help pay for qualified measures.
Does NHSaves offer financing for larger projects?
Yes, the program offers low- to no-interest loans of up to $15,000 to help finance the cost of your energy improvements.
What are some common improvements recommended by contractors?
Common recommendations include sealing air leaks, adding insulation, sealing ductwork, and upgrading appliances or heating and cooling systems.
How do I know the work will be done correctly?
Updates are verified by a second set of tests, and work may be spot-checked by independent third parties for quality assurance
